Questions about websites for local businesses

First whether a website is needed, then what moves its price, and last whether the one you have should be rebuilt. The questions usually arrive in that order, and anyone who already has a site starts with the last one. The answer to each one is here, and behind it the page that argues it in full.

Website or Instagram

The same opening hours in two places: on the channel they scroll away, on the site they hold still.

Booking
Online, from the site

The same facts, always in the same place.

Illustrative example: the shop is not real. The profile keeps doing its job. This is a difference of job, not a comparison of worth.

You want both, because the people who follow you and the ones still deciding whether to come to you are two different groups: the second wants your hours, your prices and a way to book, and looks for them where they stay written on the days you post nothing.

What drives the price

The same barbershop, two different perimeters.

One shop

Same business, same way of building. What changes is the amount of work, and the price follows it.

Illustrative example. The page scale is the one the packages hold, from 3 to 8. No price can be read off this diagram: the perimeter is defined and quoted before the work starts.

On how much work the site takes: how many pages it needs, whether it exists in one language or two, whether the images already exist or have to be produced, and whether booking leads away from the site or happens inside it; all of it goes into the quote in CHF, VAT included, before the work starts.

When to redesign

Change an hour

Open the site and try to correct an opening time, or a price, on your own.

If you have to write to somebody and wait, the first signal is already there: the site cannot be edited by the people who work in the business.

Illustrative example. The checks give an answer, not a verdict: if no problem comes out of them, the site should not be rebuilt now.

When one of the tests fails: you try to change an opening hour yourself and cannot, you message yourself through the contact form and nothing arrives, you open the prices on a phone and cannot read them, you reread the pages and find things that are no longer true; if none of them fails, a site that merely looks dated stays as it is.

If the question you came with is none of these, write it out as it is. We reply within 3 working hours.
